Leather marquetry requires extreme patience and precision by hand. Every piece of leather is expertly cut by hand based on a desired motif. The artisan takes precision in the thickness of the leather, skillfully assembles them by hand, piecing them edge to edge forming a trompe l’oeil. A tour de force undetectable to the eye and to the touch. This expert technique fits all the pieces together, creating the illusion as if it is one piece of leather. Each marquetry piece is a unique work of art, the finest savoir-faire expression of the Maison and a sustainable way for Moynat to reuse the high-quality surplus of materials from previous collections.
A special collection of nine exclusive Flori Leather Marquetry Art Deco was launched coinciding with Moynat Harrods opening. The collection features three spirited patterns inspired by Art Deco, a period of flourishing creativity for Moynat. An elegant cluster of arches and geometric shapes adornes the Flori compose of 17 to 30 pieces of leather. The geometric precision of each pattern juxtaposed with the curvaceous silhouette of the Flori results in three visually arresting styles
